Hiring 2000 Positions for Construction of $12B LNG Project (Phase 1) in TX.

  • NextDecade has awarded two construction contracts worth about $12 billion to Bechtel for the construction of phase one of its Rio Grande LNG export terminal at the Port of Brownsville. Bechtel would build three production units capable of producing up to 17.61m tpa of LNG. 
  • The project represents another win for the company on the LNG front — in March, the company was issued a final notice to proceed on Phase 1 of public utility company Sempra’s $13 billion Port Arthur, Texas LNG plant. 
  • NextDecade reached the final investment decision (FID) for Phase 1 of the Rio Grande LNG export facility in July 2023 and officially started its construction in October 2023.
